October 14 2008, Elder Milner

Anzianos‏

Hey everybody!

It was once again a great pleasure to receive the emails from you. It is always one of the highlights of the week.
So I forgot to tell you all last week, unbelievably, that we had a small earthquake last week when we were in a meeting with the President. It was really kind of a cool experience, because we didn´t quite know what it was at first. It felt like a machine was just doing work outside our building, but then we realized that it couldn´t be. And our President informed us that it was indeed an earthquake. Don´t worry, no one was hurt, nothing shook off tables and broke, it was just an interesting experience.
It is kind of a shock to think that in two weeks we will be out proselyting in the field. I had the opportunity to go out proselyting again on Saturday, and it was great. We were able to teach a couple of less active families, and we had the opportunity to do some more street contacting. The Lord blessed us missionaries so much with the gift of tongues that day, it was incredible and humbling. I am so grateful for the love and support the Lord has shown me throughout my mission and my entire life.
And to answer mom´s questions, we do indeed have Latino companions, mine is actually from La Paz, Bolivia, and his name is Elder Mahey. I can´t remember if I said that, but I will say it again, just to make sure.We went to Immigration this morning, and received our Peruvian IDs. It was really cool to think we are official residents of Peru now, and that we are welcome here. When we were waiting at the center, we had the opportunity to teach and talk with a man from New York who was working down here. He actually has Elephantitis, or so his doctors told him, and he has been having a rough time. He was really a nice man, and he had some questions that we were able to help him with I think. And we bore testimony of the Gospel and Our Father in Heaven´s love for us in sending His Son Jesus Christ to the earth to live and die and live again for us. I really felt the Spirit as we talked to him, and got another little glimpse of why we are here. There are truly some magnificient missionaries here.
Well, I don´t really have too much else to say here, each day is pretty much the same. Thank you all for everything you have done for me, and I hope that you all understand what each and everyone of you means to me. I know this Church is true, and I know Our Father in Heaven knows and loves us. Jesus Christ is our Redeemer and Savior, and only through Him can we be saved. Love, Elder Milner
